A former journalist, freelance writer and graphic designer, Mikaela has more than 30 years experience working as a news reporter and editor, and in management positions for corporate communications, public relations, market research and marketing communications strategy. She successfully published a body-mind-spirit newspaper statewide in Arizona from 1993-1999, and a natural health newspaper in Tucson, Arizona from 1996-1999. Also a freelance publications consultant, she has founded five newspapers and won 13 national and regional awards for writing and graphic design.
In her personal life, Mikaela is an animal lover beyond addiction, a vegetarian (pretty much), a jewelry designer, and an artist working in fused glass art designs and oil paintings. She also is writing a novel by candle light, because she’s a Gemini with a bad habit of burning the candle at both ends.
James Ricker
A business manager, former contractor and entrepreneur, Jim has 30 years experience developing and managing several small businesses in Tucson, including contracting, publishing, product development and events management. In recent years, he has gained national recognition in natural history preservation as a small mine operator conducting professional field collecting of Arizona mineral specimens.
